If you have a new addition coming to your home, or if you have recently had a new baby, then there is little as important as adjusting your home to be safe for your little one. From electrical sockets to sharp objects, the average house is full of hazards, and there are some simple things you can do to keep your baby out of harm’s way.

First is to pay attention to their height. Once they begin standing you will have to move everything out of their reach, which can get harder and harder as they learn to climb. Estimating how tall they will be at different points, and then moving things ahead of time, will keep any surprises from occurring.

Second, mind eay to reach dangers. Move everything up a drawer in your kitchen, put all cleaners or chemicals on shelves, and remove all sharp objects from anywhere within five feet of the floor. Move any stools that can be climbed on, and if possible try to pad sharp corners that the baby can fall on as they learn to crawl.

Covering electrical sockets with locking mechanisms is important as well, as it is easy to pull of flat plastic covers.
